Covid19 continues to keep us from returning to our normal lives. Many are still unemployed, infections are continuing to grow, according to the reports anyway. I wonder how accurate the data is, don’t you? The numbers given each day aren’t numbers for that particular day, though. They are merely results from testing who knows when. Even after the mask mandate numbers are still climbing. Does that mean it’s not working? Not necessarily. I am not sure if we can start seeing real changes in the numbers for at least another couple of weeks.
What I really don’t understand is how, back in March when this all hit, schools were closed. Even before the cases were high. Now that the cases are high, we are opening schools back up. I know schools are doing everything they can to make safety a priority. Is that going to be enough? I sure hope so. Since school starts next week, we will know soon. I hope that parents will realize that this is going to be hard on the kids and even harder on the teachers. So, please, don’t yell at them, don’t be ugly to them, none of this is their fault and the fact that they are showing up to teach your children during this time, should be praised and rewarded. Thank you teachers!
The little people in my life have started school at St. John’s Lutheran school and so far, so good. Though I must admit, I pray for Miss Jenny, Holdens Pre-K Teacher. Miss Yolanda, Hattie Jo’s teacher, has to be awesome. Hattie cried the first day when she had to leave! Cheers to Miss Yolanda and Miss Jenny! I kept Holden and Hattie for ten weeks when the daycares and schools closed, so believe me, I know how HARD the job is and I only had two! I can’t imagine a class with five, ten or more! I guess I’m just getting old!
If it were up to me there would be a pay ceiling for executives and professional athletes. I would pay our teachers and first responders so much more, because these people have our futures and our lives in their hands. But, that’s just my opinion. You don’t have to agree or even like it. Thanks to the First Amendment, I have the right to voice my opinion in this great nation. Unfortunately, there are those who feel that if you don’t share their opinion, you aren’t allowed to share your own. Sorry, but if you feel that way, you should move out of this country. Too many people are trying to change the very rights that many of us hold dear, that is just wrong! If you don’t like our freedoms, by all means, feel free to move to Canada, or Mexico, or Russia where you will not have to deal with the freedoms we have. That includes all you politicians who want to rewrite history and do away with our rights and freedoms.
As we get closer to election time, I suggest you study the candidates running for various offices, don’t just listen to the campaign garbage. Look at their voting records, look at what they say, do they walk the walk or do they just say what people want to hear, without putting actions into their words? Be an informed voter, don’t just vote for someone because their an incumbent, or a certain political party, or a certain race or religion. But, vote.
Until next time…
