Her sunrise dawned on October 9, 1960 in Stuttgart,
Arkansas born to the late Rev. Theodius and Mrs. Elizabeth (Stewart) Anderson. Leslie’s high noon of life shines throughout as she impacted family, friends, and the community while serving her Heavenly Master.
Her sunset of life was early morning on January 28, 2020. She was proceeded in her address change by her
mother, father, brother, cousins, daughter, granddaughter, nephew, uncles, and aunts.
In her early years, Sis. Leslie accepted Christ as her Savior and was a member of Allen Temple M.B. Church in
Stuttgart, AR under the leadership of Rev. G.H. Wade and eventually Rev. Gilbert Byrd. She later united with
Mt. Calvary COGIC in Casscoe, AR under the leadership of the late Pastor Clarence Guydon where she became a student of the WORD of God and Faith. After the transition of Pastor Guydon and much consideration of her spiritual wellbeing, Sis. Williams received more spiritual guidance from a plethora of anointed men and women of God in the Stuttgart community. She found her peace with the Bible Believes House of Faith Family under the leadership of Pastor Steven Reed until her name was called by God.
Because of her love for God, youth, and singing, she served in numerous positions such as, but not limited to the youth choir director, praise &
worship leader, VBS teacher, intercessory prayer warrior, and adult choir director. Sis. Leslie, as long as her health allowed, served and declared the works of the Lord with all of her heart wherever she resided.
Her entire education was in Stuttgart Public Schools where she graduated in 1979 from Stuttgart High School. Sis. Leslie continued her education at the University of Arkansas Phillips Community College in Stuttgart
pursuing an Associate Degree in Business Administration. She was a dedicated business professional until her health declined.
She had the opportunity to work for Sears Roebuck, DHS-Stuttgart, Walmart, Hickory Grove Apartments as a manager, and Stuttgart Regional Medical Center present-day Baptist Health Stuttgart Medical
Center as switchboard operator/outpatient admissions.
Sis. Williams loved her classmates (SHS Class of 1979) and was noted for having a big heart and impact on everyone that crossed her path. She was also known by her classmates for her spectacular performance of “Sunny” by Bobby Hebb. In her ultimate purpose, she used her angelic voice for God as a tool in the earth to touch the souls of many which resulted in the ultimate goal of Jesus…Salvation.
She had a tough exterior, but once you were able to penetrate it, Sis.
Leslie loved everyone, especially her children, grandchildren, and the rest of her family with all of her heart.
She lived an active, loving, giving, faith-filled, and joyous life. Sis. Leslie taught everyone she encountered that JESUS is our salvation, solid foundation, and the supplier of ALL of our needs.

Henry Goodloe,78 of Pine Bluff, who stated he chopped cotton and then moved to Stuttgart to work in the rice fields, was sentenced to a year of probation after mailing white powder and a threatening letter about slavery reparations to Republican Sen. Tom Cotton’s office in Washington two years ago.
In August of 2019, Henry Goodloe, then 77, pleaded guilty in federal court.
On November 7, 2018, a federal grand jury indicted Goodloe for mailing a threat to injure the addressee, and for conveying false information related to possessing biological weapons which are punishable by not more than
five years’ imprisonment.
In August 2018, Goodloe mailed a letter to Senator Cotton’s Washington, D.C., office. The letter’s return address was Goodloe’s home address. The letter, which contained the statement “maybe this will get your attention,” contained a white powdery substance. A Senate mail facility
intercepted the letter, and a hazardous material response team later determined that the substance was unbleached flour and starch.
According to court documents, Goodloe is very passionate that African American’s are due reparations for slavery and the attendant fall out and economic destruction he submits resulted from it.
He reached out to Senator Stephen Cohen about his concerns to which he replied he did not anticipate reparations would come to fruition during his lifetime.
He also sent emails to Senator Tom Cotton, that went unanswered. That’s when Goodloe decided to mail an envelope containing flour.
During Tuesday’s, Jan. 14 sentencing, U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker instructed Goodloe to have “no communication or other interaction” with Cotton without receiving permission from the U.S. Probation Office.
She told Goodloe that while “it’s reasonable to expect a response from your elected officials,” his method of complaining “is a crime.”
Goodloe, who had no prior criminal violations, was sentenced to one-year probation and a $100 mandatory special assessment.
Court documents state that Goodloe agreed that what he did was not a good idea and that his thinking at the time that he mailed it was different than his thinking now.

Agricultural producers now can enroll in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs – two U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) safety net programs – for the 2020 crop year.
“These two programs provide income support to help producers manage the ups and downs in revenues and prices,” said Richard Fordyce, Administrator of USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA). “USDA is here to support the economic stability of American agricultural producers by helping them maintain their competitive edge in times of economic stress. We encourage producers to consider enrolling in one of these programs.”
ARC provides income support payments on historical base acres when actual crop revenue declines below a specified guaranteed level. PLC provides income support payments on historical base acres when the effective price for a covered commodity falls below its reference price. The 2018 Farm Bill reauthorized and updated both programs.
Signup for the 2020 crop year closes June 30, 2020, while signup for the 2019 crop year closes March 15, 2020. Producers who have not yet enrolled for 2019 can enroll for both 2019 and 2020 during the same visit to an FSA county office.
ARC and PLC have options for the farm operator who is actively farming the land as well as the owner of the land. Farm owners also have a one-time opportunity to update PLC payment yields beginning with crop year 2020. If the farm owner and producer visit the FSA county office together, FSA can also update yield information during that visit.
Covered commodities include barley, canola, large and small chickpeas, corn, crambe, flaxseed, grain sorghum, lentils, mustard seed, oats, peanuts, dry peas, rapeseed, long grain rice, medium and short grain rice, safflower seed, seed cotton, sesame, soybeans, sunflower seed and wheat.
For more information call your local Farm Service Agency office.

The morning after brought uncertainty to the Stuttgart School District’s future by those waking up to a disappointing outcome and for others, great news.
Voters rejected a school tax rate of 40.5 mills to be used solely for maintenance and operations of the Stuttgart School District schools, during a special election, on Tuesday, January 14.
The millage failed by a margin of 84 votes with 752 total voters.
The final tally in Tuesday’s vote was 334 “for” and 418 “against”.
“So sad that a town can’t support the school and the kids,” said Brent Wittman. “Regardless of what some say or think, these facilities are used by all students and are in desperate need of upgrading. The district will now fall further behind.”
The proposed tax would have been collected on all taxable property over a 30 year period to be used to construct new restrooms at Meekins Middle School, replacing a roof and HVAC system, constructing a new canopy at Park Avenue Elementary, constructing and equipping new baseball and softball complex, renovating and constructing an addition to the Jr. High Arena, renovating the High School Gym and constructing, refurbishing and equipping other school facilities.
According to documents released by the Stuttgart School District, the millage increase impact on homeowners would range from $3 a month to $12 a month.
“Investing in our community and youth is more important than banking that little extra,” said a Stuttgart business owner after the voting results were announced.
Information was readily available on the district’s website as well as their Facebook page but residents still claim they were unaware of any special election.
“I knew nothing about the election,” said a Stuttgart resident. “I had no idea what was going on until it was over and everyone was talking about it. The Stuttgart Daily Leader really needs to come back.”
Other residents felt the information wasn’t communicated clearly or voted against the millage because it would not benefit all students or the community.
According to the SSD, with the new basketball, baseball, and softball facilities, the district would be able to host district, regional, and state tournaments, bringing revenue into the city.
Meekins Middle School teacher, Latara Robinson, explained how their building has not been repaired in over 20 years besides the addition of the gym after the 2008 tornado and how the bathrooms desperately need attention.
“Would you go to the bathroom, hold the faucet on with the left hand just to wash the right hand and vice-versa,” the middle school teacher asked. “I’ve heard a plethora of people say “the schools are still the same since I went here. Hint, improvements are needed.”
A Stuttgart man stated he was one of the people who was going to vote no until he had a conversation with an administrator who explained why the millage was needed.
“Those types of conversations need to be heard by the voting community also,” he said.
Could that have been the difference between a yes and a no vote? Some believe so while others want to see a more diverse plan that will benefit the entire student body.
“I think people need reassurance that their demands are being heard and will be handled somewhere in the millage,” said Larry Cox of Stuttgart.
For others, they felt the focus of the district should be academics, with every Stuttgart school rating a “C” in the Arkansas Department of Education Public School Rating System.
With the election behind the community, many hope the district will bounce back with a more effective plan that will work for the betterment of the community and all students in the district.
“Time to evaluate what went wrong, make necessary adjustments and have another election as soon as possible,” said Josh Troy. “This was a good idea. Let’s not give up hope.”
According to a press release from Stuttgart School District Superintendent Rick Gales, the patron’s voice must be heard as the district moves forward with future improvement plans, while creating stakeholder groups to help guide their next steps.
“The Stuttgart School District would like to thank not only the supporters of the millage, but all those community members who took the time to go out and vote,” said Gales. “The feedback that has been provided to us throughout this millage campaign will be extremely beneficial as we make plans for improving our district.”

While many spent the holiday season in the comfort of their homes with family and friends, White Hall basketball coach, Marc Stringer spent his in ICU.
Stringer was diagnosed with esophageal cancer at the age of 33 in July of 2016, one year after marrying his wife, Lauren Stringer.
Prior to coaching at White Hall, Marc was a Stuttgart basketball coach.
Many consider Stringer Superman because despite his cancer diagnosis, his strength prevailed during trying times.
However, now Stringer remains in ICU battling a bacterial and fungal infection after he returned from a dream trip to meet Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball coach, Mike Krzyzewski, a few days before Christmas.
According to his wife, Lauren Coker Stringer, who is also a nurse, Stringer had specifically asked prayers for strength, mental and physical.
“He was starting to require more oxygen than they could administer on the floor and spiked another fever,” said Lauren. “He had a CT done of his chest that showed his pneumonia was much worse than the chest x-ray had shown.”
With all the prayers in rotation, Stuttgart native Jordan Hudson saw that his former coach needed a push.
“I wanted to take the time to hopefully give him a little more hope and push through and to come out of this Stringer Strong,” said Jordan.
Jordan started the Stringer Strong 10 pushup challenge on Facebook.

Between the shares and reposts, the challenge has been viewed collectively over 10,000 times since January 5.
Jordan stated how Coach Stringer still saw hope in him, even though he wasn’t the best basketball player.
“I remember him seeing something in me so hopefully we can see something in Coach Stringer to help him push through,” said Jordan.
Men, women, boys and girls from Arkansas County to the Great White North, came together to give Stringer hope during his fight.
Students, faculty and staff at Park Avenue Elementary, Meekins Middle School, FUMC-Stuttgart, St. John’s Lutheran School, Bright Field Middle School, Stuttgart High School, White Hall High School all the way to West Memphis were just some of the many who have taken on the pushup challenge started by Jordan.
According to the family of Stringer, his health is currently improving and Stringer stated he is going to walk out of that hospital-Stringer Strong!
“We are both so overwhelmed by the amount of support and love we have received,” said Lauren. “Many times walking out into the waiting room I felt the weight of the world but then I would see the faces of so many people I truly love and that weight immediately felt lighter. The “10 pushup challenge” is absolutely awesome and provides such a bright light during our day watching all the videos. “
