
Elizabeth “Bootsie” Ann Miller, 86, of Indianola, Mississippi
passed away at her home on Saturday, December 12th, 2020.
Bootsie was born February 19th, 1934 in Stuttgart, Arkansas to
the late Bill and Sarah Word.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, and sister, Faye Evelyn Word-Sickel. Bootsie was a
lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Indianola.
She loved getting her hair and nails done, playing Bunko with her
friends, and doing Bible study with her church friends. She was a
dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Her life was a
living example of her favorite Bible verse, James 1: 2-4 – “Dear
Brothers and Sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way
consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when
your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it
grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be
perfect and complete, needing nothing.”
Bootsie is survived by
her childhood sweetheart and husband of 63 years, James “Jimmy”
R. Miller Sr.; son, James “Bobby” R. Miller, Jr. (Bernice) of
Courtland, Mississippi; daughter, Barbara Ann Hooper of
Indianola; two grandsons, James “Rob” R. Miller III, of Holcomb,
Mississippi, and Walter Brooks Hooper of Indianola; three
granddaughters, Krista Elizabeth Miller of Pope, Mississippi,
Mary Ashley Miller of Biloxi, Mississippi, and Karen Cummins
(Andy) of Pope; two great-grandsons, Carson Miller, and Matthew
Barnhill; and two great-granddaughters, Madison Barnhill, and
Ali Rhea Cummins. She is also survived by her big brother,
Billy Word (Tipi) of Booneville, Arkansas.
Bootsie’s family and friends gathered in celebration of her life at
the First Presbyterian Church in Indianola on Friday, December
18th, 2020 with Pastor Duncan Hoops leading as the Officiant.
In Lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bootsie’s memory to
her favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and
the Wounded Warrior Project.
