Those who truly know him know his heart and his heart is what those close to him noticed as this person continues to upkeep the grounds of Love Rest and Green Grove Cemetery in Stuttgart.
Loved ones asked that his name be kept anonymous because he is a private person but says due to financial difficulties, the groundskeeper hasn’t been paid for his service in months but still continues to keep the lawn cured.
“He is very instrumental in bringing the cemetery to its former glory,” said a family member who added the groundskeeper is owed a total of $1,200.
According to the family, payment has been given to the groundskeeper out of the pockets of two of the cemetery overseers from their fixed income and wants the community to step up and help, especially if they have a loved one buried there.
“It is unfair to them to have to always come out of pocket when almost every Black native of Stuttgart has a loved one buried there,” said family members.
Stating that the groundskeeper is not motivated by money the family knows his livelihood depends on it.
“When I say bad things truly do happen to good people it does because he just got his wallet stolen on Friday,” said family.
Wanting to help, friends and family began to raise funds for the groundskeeper and have asked those who are financially able to help out someone who does so much for others.
