The Grand Prairie Quilt Society met October 9, 2019, at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall with ten members present and one guest.
Glenda opened the meeting with the thought for the day, “As you sew, so shall you rip.”
Happy Birthday greetings were extended to Eunice.
The September minutes and treasurer’s reports were given.
The 2020 Country Quilt Camp report: Six campers have registered, registration is still open. Shelley and Marsha thanked the quilt society members who have donated handmade items for the Bazaar this Saturday the 12th.
Glenda mentioned that she and Sherrye had visited about the fact that when someone asks a quilter to make a quilt, they have no idea of the time, expense and expertise involved.
Many of the members concurred and said no amount of money could compensate them for a quilt they have to spend many hours putting together.

Show and Share: Shelley showed her 1st Place One Man Show entry: a thread sketching of a vase of flowers. She also had 3 cute coffee cup pin cushions.
Betty had some lovely pillowcase dresses for her church’s mission program. Ann had several pillowcases for her grandsons. Glenda showed 3 baby quilts for the Hope Resource Center in Pine Bluff, a red squares quilt top, and a Rebecca Amy quilt top.
Meola was proud to show her finished Breast Cancer quilt top. Sherrye showed a police officer’s quilt top made of uniforms and patches.

Aftershow and share, the members enjoyed exploring several tables of treasures and taking many home to reuse, recycle and reimagine into new and lovely works of art.
The next meeting will be a Sit ‘n Sew on November 13 from 9-3. Bring your projects and lunch and join us.
