
A 35-year-old white male was arrested on December 19th after choking his 29-year-old girlfriend because her puppy would not stop barking.
SPD officer James Gignac was dispatched to the 200 block of E. 15th Street when the girlfriend who had noticeable red marks on the left and right side of her neck, approached him.
The girlfriend explained that her boyfriend became angry due to the puppy barking in the house. According to the incident report, the boyfriend demanded she stop the puppy from barking.
The girlfriend said she told her boyfriend to go home if he couldn’t handle the barking puppy. That is when the boyfriend became angry and grabbed her around the neck.
Officer Gignac also noticed red marks on the front of her neck and chest area.
According to the report, the boyfriend admitted having contact but would not say how. He stated his girlfriend had a dog she couldn’t afford.
The boyfriend was placed under arrest for domestic battery 3rd degree.
