
A 35-year-old black male of Stuttgart was found lying on the ground on Saturday, October 26 at approximately 9:08 p.m. after suffering from a gunshot wound.
SPD Ptl. Christopher Stockard was dispatched to the 200 block of E. 16th Street where he found the victim on the ground in between a residence and a parked vehicle.
The victim was in stable condition and advised Stockard he had been shot in a residence on the 200 block of E. 15th Street.
According to the incident report, the victim was in the back room speaking with a male subject. He walked to his room to clean up. When he grabbed a broom from the front room he noticed two unknown men standing in the room.
One was holding a gun.
The man told the victim to give him money, which the victim replied he had none. The man took the victim in the back room where the other male subject was at and held a gun to the victim’s head.
He then hit the victim with the gun.
One of the unidentified suspects broke a lamp to darken the room. At that moment, the suspect decided to run to the front door.
As he ran through the kitchen, two gunshots were fired and he was struck.
The victim recalls the other male subject screaming his name as he ran away from the scene.
The victim ran to a neighbors house to ask for help.
The victim was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The case is currently under investigation.
