
Myrtle Sampson Welch passed away Oct. 3, 1920. She was born Aug. 29, 1922, to Ernest and Vesta Quertermous Sampson.
Raised in the Sunshine and Red Hill communities she graduated from Stuttgart High School and the University of Central Arkansas. She taught school in DeWitt, Stuttgart and Humphrey school districts before returning to UCA to earn a degree in elementary counseling and was one of the first elementary counselors in the state.
While working at Convair in San Diego, Calif., she met and married Dale Welch. They moved to Stuttgart and farmed together and she taught school.
Myrtle is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Robert, Earnestine Wright, Virginia Croft, Patricia Gardner, Helen Irving and Freda Davis; and a grandson, Daniel Young. She is survived by a brother, Gene of Jonesboro; daughter, Sharon Bullard of Missoula, Mont.; son, Tommy (Mary) of Humphrey; granddaughter Michelle Young of White Hall; three great-grandchildren; and lots of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be a Lone Tree Cemetery at a date to be announced.
