Given the high risk of spread once COVID-19 enters a Long Term Care facility, facilities have responded to protect residents, families, and staff from a serious illness, complications, and death.
Because of the ease of spread in a long-term care setting and the severity of illness that occurs in residents with COVID-19, facilities have restricted all visitation to their facilities.
Those restrictions have made connecting with loved ones difficult but Crestpark of Stuttgart found a way to reconnect loved ones by throwing a parade making it possible to see loved ones, even if it is at a distance.
This Friday at 11 a.m. Crestpark residents will be outside in the front parking lot as several community organizations and family members will parade in front of the nursing home.
The Stuttgart Fire Department, Southern Paramedic Ambulance Service and several church groups will take part in the parade.
Most importantly, family members who have not been able to see their loved one due to COVID-19 restrictions will get to reconnect from a distance.
