The Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, a division of the Arkansas Department of Education, will sponsor the 2020 “Back to School Bash” school supply distribution on Wednesday, August 5, 2020.
The Commission continues for the fourth year giving back to the community at this time of year. More than 1,000 school supply packages will reach youth in more than nine (9) cities across the state between the hours of 12:00 noon and 3 p.m.
One of those cities will include Stuttgart.
Robert Chambers, Stuttgart Civil Human Rights Party CEO and Founder, in collaboration with the MLK Jr. Commission, will distribute school supplies at J.B. Bryant Park from noon to 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
“I want to thank Executive Director Dushun Scarbrough for including Stuttgart on his list,” said Chambers.
Approximately 75 students will receive school supplies according to Chambers, which he says will be a blessing to the children in Stuttgart.
“During these unprecedented times there is a need everywhere and although the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission is not serving as a sole distributor, we are doing our part to add some relief to these communities by providing some school supplies for youth,” said Scarbrough. “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. placed great emphasis on education and the opportunities that come as a result of youth taking advantage of education. This is our way of paying it forward and promoting education throughout the state.”
